Welcome to the Cleveleys Taekwondo Club website.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, characterized by it's fast, high and spinning kicks. Taekwondo is translated as 'the way of hand and foot'.
The club is based at the Frank Townend Community Centre, Kensington Rd (just off Beach Rd near the Vue cinema) in Cleveleys and runs numerous classes for different ages and grades. The club is a family run club and Taekwondo is an activity that both children and adults can take part in.
Training in Taekwondo has numerous benefits, it can:
increase self esteem and self confidence,
develop discipline, etiquette and respect,
improve co-ordination, fitness and flexibility
as well as the learning of Taekwondo skills.
The main Taekwondo skills you will learn are;
kicks
blocks
strikes
stances
patterns (sequences of kicks, blocks, strikes & stances)
1 step (pre arranged attack and defence)
sparring (non contact unless a specialist sport class)
self defence
and more.
As with most hobbies you get out whatever you put in. We offer lots more than just training once or twice a week, but it is up to the students whether they take up any of these opportunities.
The senior instructors and grading examiners of the club are the brother and sister combination of Master Corinna Broadbent 5th Dan and Master Andrew Warwick 5th Dan. They are also assisted by many black belts whose support is invaluable . Master Debbie Hilton 5th Dan is also part of the grading panel and is the clubs pattern co-ordinator. Various certificates and qualifications can be seen on the notice board in the corridor.
All the club's badges and certificates have been designed by Paul Sealey 1st Dan and the close location of the sea has been the inspiration behind all the designs.
